Good day, friends! We want to share with you some exciting news from the Cat Lovers Club! For the first time in our 7-year-long existence we’ve been awarded a small grant by an international organization @SPCA international which supports the wellbeing of animals and raising of civic awareness!
Many of you are well aware of the difficulties we’ve been through for there to be a cat shelter in Tbilisi where we could provide care to traumatized, post-surgery cats, as well as manage sterilization/castration, adoption or return. Until this day we’ve served over 1,000 stray cats The shelter’s rent, utilities, cat food, litter, medication, hygiene transportation and veterinary expenses - were all covered with your donations!
We have never before had stable financing. Our daily, hard work has been driven by our enthusiasm and sense of responsibility until this day. Luckily in the past 2 years the shelter has gained two ‘golden girls’ who care for the sheltered animals as their own family members, yet reliance on volunteer work was not sustainable. Work has to be valued! It is precisely with this funding that our colleagues will be paid for up to a year. One of the main areas of SPCA’s work is the support and capacity building of cat shelters. We wish for more novelty, more paid staff in support of animals, and further close collaboration with the global organization as SPCA. Truly, far more important than the financial support is their trust and the chance to be a small part of a big family!
We would like to express special thanks to our team member and great friend of cats , Pablo Fernandez and Giorgi Keretchashvili✊🏻
So, we’re already on the list! The first cat shelter in Tbilisi 💜🐾
